Made In India iPhone
According to the report, Apple plans to launch the iPhone 12 locally in India. The new production schedule announces that Apple partner Wistron will be launched sometime in the middle of next year. The Cupertino giant has already put together several existing iPhone models in the country. These include the iPhone XR and iPhone 11, as well as dated models such as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6s. Wistron began assembling iPhone models in the country as early as May 2017.
The iPhone 12, which Apple has not yet officially announced, is the seventh iPhone model to be made in India, International Business reports. The newspaper, referring to people familiar with the development, said that production takes place at the Kistrataka Wistron plant.
Apple has so far found production of five iPhone models in the country, with the iPhone 11 being the last model to receive an Indian makeup complex in July. It is alleged that Wistron also plans to start producing the iPhone SE (2020) in the country before the end of this year.
This is not Apple's first factory in India. Apple recently began assembling the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR at the Foxconn plant in Chennai and is expected to begin assembling the mid-range iPhone SE 2020 by the end of 2020.
Indian-made iPhone 12 will be the last participant in the list of 'rant' phones. This helps reduce the price of the upcoming iPhone 12 series, as Apple may drop 22 percent. This showed that Apple could strategically place this phone in a more competitive price range, which could lead to a Cupertino Giant market share in India.
However, there is no guarantee that Apple will lower the prices of its smartphones, as it is a step to move the production and assembly base from China. Given the growing anti-Chinese sentiment in India, premium smartphones can also help increase sales.
