Mars Drone Ingenuity

Mars is the second place in our solar system where the human colony can be inhabited and that is why space agencies around the world are investigating Mars. The best way to study the surface of Mars was to send a rover there. Because the Rovers can do study of the surface of the planet and send information back to earth. So far in human history, only four rovers have been able to reach Mars successfully. mars Pathfinder, Spirit rover, Opportunity rover and Curiosity.

But the problem with the Rover mission was that it was too slow and took several months to travel a few kilometers on Mars and the Rovers were not able to study many of the large rocks on Mars. In such a situation, NASA plans to send a drone helicopter to Mars. This drone helicopter can go to places where the rover can't go. Whether it is high mountains or gills.

The first rover mission on Mars was Pathfinder. Which was launched in December 1996 and successfully landed on July 1997. This was the first time humans had sent a moving robot to another planet. But this rover could only work for a few months. And in September 1997, its connection was lost. After this, in June and July 2003, NASA sent its second Mars rover named Spirit and Opportunity. Who once again successfully landed on Mars in January 2004. These 2 Rovers changed the way humans view Mars.

In the present time, most of the information we have about Mars, was given by these 2 Rovers. But in May 2011, we lost contact with Spirit Rover. In 2018, the biggest storm hit on March and due to this, our connection with Opportunity was lost on February 2019. After this, NASA sent the most advanced Rover Curiosity to Mars on November 2011. It successfully landed  on Mars in August 2012. The Curiosity rover landed at a place called Gale Crater. Curiosity can also be called a moving laboratory on Mars. Curiosity was doing a lot of experimenting on mars such as Ancient life on mars, the soil of mars, the surface, the organic molecules and study of its atmosphere. At present, this rover is working correctly. And periodically sending many important information to the earth.

But at present, NASA is also working on the Advanced Rover from Curiosity which is named Perseverance Rover. This will prove to be quite revolutionary in the field of Mars exploration. Which will find the best places on Mars for studying Ancient Past Life, Habitable Atmosphere, Possible Micro Life and Best landing spot on Mars for future. If all goes well, it will be launched on July 2020 and And may land on Feb 2021.

But this NASA mission is going to be very different from the first few missions. Because this time NASA is preparing to send a robotic helicopter with rover. It will largely be a drone helicopter named Ingenuity Helicopter. This drone helicopter will be just 1.8 kg.

For the first time, humans are sending drones or helicopters to a planet. According to scientists, this will be a technology demonstration mission. Indian connection is also associated with this drone. Indian girl named this drone. The girl's name is Vaneeza Rupani. After landing on Mars, this drone will slowly move away from the rover, after which it will start its 30-day testflight on Mars. This drone will fly about 5 times in these 30 days. This drone can remain in the air for about 20 to 30 seconds.

If this drone is successful in its first test flight, it will be the biggest discovery in human history. Because this will be the first time when we fly our drone on a planet which is billions of kilometers away from the Earth. After which it will carry out four more flights. During which it will rise about 10 meters above the Mars surface and will travel about 300 meters. This drone will always have a connection to the Perseverance Rover. And with his help, real time data will be sent to the earth. During its flight, this drone will find the best route for Perseverance Rover.

It is not yet clear that what this drone will do after the 30-day test flight. But one thing I want to tell you is that Opportunity Rover, which was built for just 90 days, kept sending us information for about 15 years. Which surprised scientists around the world. In such a situation, it will be fun to see if this drone will be able to stay on Mars for more than 30 days. But after the drone went away, Percerance Rover would continue to study Mars alone for several years. This drone will use solar panels instead of any type of fuel. Solar panels will start charging at the appropriate time and give it the ability to stay in the air for 90 seconds. This drone has been designed so that it can do its job comfortably on Mars at minus 80 degrees Celsius.
So that's it Guys
Meet you soon 😊
